Rules set for 4-cylinder ‘Break Ice not Hearts 50′ at LCS

Hobby Stocks still in line to have their fun during first event also
DONNELLSON, Iowa (Dec. 23, 2011) – Preparations continue for the first “Break Ice not Hearts 50” at Lee County Speedway. The event is scheduled to hit the likely froze speedway, Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012.
Rules will be simple as IMCA Sport Compact rules will be followed from the aspect of car type and power plant type. This means no variable valve timing type power plants will be allowed. Tire rules will be open outside of no tire wider than a 60 series tire. Also, no studded tires will be allowed.
Besides those basic rules, safety rules will be strictly enforced. If any person who wants to participate in the event has a question about their car being legal, please feel free to contact promoter Dewain Hulett at 309-331-3804 or by e-mail at promoter@leecountyspeedway.com.

First ‘Break Ice not Hearts 50’ to be held Feb. 11, 2012

DONNELLSON, Iowa (Dec. 19, 2011) – With new ownership comes new ideas and new events, and the first new event to be held at Lee County Speedway will come Feb. 11, 2012.
The “Break Ice not Hearts 50” for 4-Cylinders will be a $1,000 to win event  held as alternative to not only offseason racing blues, but also something for racing couples to do on a Saturday afternoon for an early Valentine’s Day outing.
There is also the possibility to have Hobby Stocks on tap if there is interest for the class to take part in the day’s racing fun.

LCS releases tentative 2012 schedule

Launches new webist as new season approaches
DONNELLSON, Iowa – With 2012 just over two weeks away, the new management team at Lee County Speedway released its tentative 2012 schedule today.
Specials highlight the season at the beginning and end, with the opening night scheduled for April 13. That night will be highlighted with a $1,000 to win IMCA Modified show, with the rest of the classes to be announced later.

Night two of the season, April 20, is slated to be a big one for 305 Sprint Car fans and drivers. Just how big is yet to be determined, but make sure to keep your eyes open for more news on this big event.

Smith, Hale purchases Pitside Parts

Offers special $80 deal on Raceceivers
DONNELLSON, Iowa – Levi Smith and Nicole Hale completed a deal late last month to purchase the parts business owned by Terry and Harry Hoenig – Pit Side Parts.
The business will remain in Donnellson, Iowa, but will be run as Pitside Parts, according to Smith.
Plans are to keep the business mobile, with the idea of being on hand at area racetracks throughout the summer. Smith will also have the parts business available during none racing days at his residence.

“For my goals, the parts bus was no longer pratical,” Smith said. “After long talks and looking we purchased a white 28′ enclosed trailer.

Clauson enters 2nd Battle at the Center

Du Quoin’s Mini Magic Mile to host event Dec. 17
DU QUOIN, Ill. (Nov. 29, 2011)—Open-wheel star Bryan Clauson has entered the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series’ second annual Battle at the Center on Dec. 17 at the Mini Magic Mile at the Southern Illinois Center.
Clauson has won the USAC National Championship, for the driver with the most points in 25 events in Midget, Sprint Car and Silver Crown Series, and the USAC Mopar National Midget title the past two seasons. The 22-year-old from Noblesville, Ind., had three wins in six races in POWRi National Midgets in 2011. Clauson also had four top-five finishes and five top-10s in six Firestone Indy Lights races in 2011.

CFF Racing Show hits MOWA banquet

The CFF Racing Show made a stop at the first Midwest Open Wheel Association (M.O.W.A.) Banquet, Saturday. Had a great time interviewing some of the key people that helped make the series’ first year so successful. Among the interviews are series champion Jerrod Hull, Jimmy Hurley and Jeremy Standridge. Also, Ross Wece came on to help open the show. We hope you enjoy!

CFF Racing Show invades SIA banquet

BURLINGTON, Iowa – The Tri-State Speed Review was at the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders annual awards banquet last night. Along with Dirt Dust and Speed, we did an audio/video recording of the CFF Racing Show. The voice of the Sprint Invaders, Bill Wright helped out, while we had Matt Sutton and Blake Nimee join as guests. We hope you enjoy.
We would also like to say we will be in attendance at the first M.O.W.A. banquet to be held next Saturday night, in Springfield. The plan is to do a CFF Racing Show recording from there as well.

New ownership moving forward at LCS

All five weekly classes to be sanctioned by IMCA, raceceivers to be used in 2012
DONNELLSON, Iowa (Oct. 21, 2011) – Lee County Speedway will continue its long standing connection with IMCA under new owners Dave and Yvonne Sapp, and with that the track announces today that all five classes will be IMCA sanctioned in 2012.
This announcement means some changes will be coming to two of the classes at the 3/8th mile oval.
Of course the other three classes will remain the same, as IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Sport Mods are all scheduled return to the track for the 2012 season.

Deal reached for sale of Lee County Speedway

Sapps are new owners of Southeast Iowa 3/8th mile dirttrack
DONNELLSON, Iowa – A deal was reached Thursday evening for the purchase of Lee County Speedway, Inc, which operates a weekly racing program at the Lee County Fairgrounds, in Donnellson, Iowa.
Terry and Jenni Hoenig are happy to announce that Dave and Yvonne Sapp will be the new owners of the racetrack.
For the Hoenig’s, the sale of the track ends a 14 year run as owners of the speedway, which started in 1998 after purchasing the track from Lynn Richard.
