    CJ Speedway to hold rules meetings January 23

    COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (Jan. 11, 2009) – CJ Speedway in Columbus Junction, Iowa will hold rules meetings for the 2010 racing season.
    The meetings will be held, Saturday, January 23 at the Wapello Ambulance Shed (same place as last year) located on Hwy 61 in Wapello, across from the Roy El Motel.

    Meetings schedule are as follows:
    4 Cylinders: Noon
    Hobby Stocks: 12:45
    Modifieds: 1:30
    Mod Lites: 2:15
    IMCA Stock Cars will not meet as they are run under IMCA rules.
    You must have your registration form filled out and registration paid to vote on changes to the rules at the meeting. Forms are available on the website at cjspeedway.com or at the meeting.

    34 Raceway announces specials for 2010

    As the 2010 season is quickly approaching, 34 Raceway has added some new and exciting events to their fantastic racing season.
    It’s a great start to a fantastic season ahead, with the Westland Mall Car Show & season kick-off party on the weekend of March 20 & 21st.  The Annual Test-n-Tune day will be the following weekend, March 27th.  All classes welcome to participate.  Pit gates open at 9:30am, pit passes $15, with the first practice session of cars hitting the track at 10:00am.  The final practice session will be held at 1:00pm.

This popular event draws the best in late model racing and will be making its first ever stop at the 3/8mile banked track paying $10,000 to win on the Friday night, May 21 show.

    The 2009 season is one race short of another successful season at 34 Raceway, with great appreciation and support of our drivers, crews & fans.  34 Raceway will host the 1st Annual Ice Bowl Thriller on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, providing Mother Nature cooperates.     Lee County Speedway pitches in to help in time of need

    DONNELLSON, Iowa (October 1, 2009) – Track owners/promoters, Terry & Jenni Hoenig, are asking race fans, drivers, and crews to help “Gather a Harvest” of food this weekend at the races.
    With the need for food items at the local food pantries ever growing the Lee County Speedway is reaching out to help. The speedway is offering a discounted ticket price to all race fans that bring food items to donate this Saturday night, Oct. 3rd in Donnellson, Iowa.
    Race fans that bring 2 or more non perishable food items this Saturday will be offered a $5 dollar grandstand admission ticket. That is half off the regular adult ticket price of $10 that would normally be charged for the night’s events.

    Mincer leaves no doubt with win, championship at 34 Raceway

    BURLINGTON, Iowa – September 26, 2009 ­ Bobby Mincer came into Saturday night’s Season Championship for the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders with a 13-point lead, and left no doubt who was in charge by the end of the night, sweeping all events. The Burlington, Iowa driver was crowned with his second championship in the series’ history, having also won in 2004.

    After handily winning his heat, Mincer drew the pole for the special Bud Taeger Memorial Dash, then rolled a two to start the 25-lap main event outside of row one. Ryan Jamison entered the night second in points, and won his heat as well. He started fifth in the main after running fourth in the dash.

    Brannon Bechen wins 6th Annual Spooktacular

    DAVENPORT, Iowa (Sept. 26, 2009) – Brannon Bechen took home the top prize at the 6th Annual Spooktacular, held Saturday at the Davenport Speedway. Over 110 cars were on hand for the event, despite the soggy weather conditions.

    Defending Spooktacular champion Jeremy Campbell led the first three laps of the 25-lap 4 Stock main. Andy Wagener took over the lead after a lap four caution and would hold the point for the next 13 la ps. Bechen came to the lead as Wagener was mired in lapped traffic on lap 18. Brannon Bechen would lead the rest of the way to the checkers and take his first Spooktacular win.
