Thomann, Mueller, Hogan all get feature wins, season championships at 34 Raceway

BURLINGTON, Iowa (Aug. 28, 2010) –  34 Raceway capped off its 2010 season point race action Saturday night, Aug. 28, with track champions decided in all five classes. Three of the feature races saw winners also claim the championship titles including Scott Hogan, Vinton, (modifieds), Jeff Mueller, New London (stock cars), and  Tanner Thomann, West Burlington (hobby stocks).  Tom Goble took the checkered flag in the J & J Steel/Ideal Ready Mix IMCA Late Model feature and Gary Russell, Biggsville, Ill., would edge out a track championship with a two point margin. Jayson Ditsworth raced to his first W.T. Gabeline and Sons Trucking 305 Sprint feature win this season as Kevin Hetrick claimed the sprint track champion.

Gharst, Sutton take Sprint Invader wins at 34 Raceway

BURLINGTON, IA. (8/21/10) – It was double the features, double the excitement, double the fun at Burlington’s 34 Raceway and it was a fan pleaser as Dirt, Dust and Speed presented Night of the Twins and Brian Hetrick Tribute Saturday night August 21. The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders were in action with not one but two feature events as well as the Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds and the Holmes Concrete Mod Lites. Getting wins were Kaley Gharst, Decatur, Il (sprints)., Matt Sutton, Macomb, Il (sprints), Jeff Morris, Long Grove, Ia (modifieds) and Mike Morrill, Altoona, Ia (mod lites).

Timmerman makes last lap pass for first IMCA stock car win

BURLINGTON, Iowa (Aug. 14, 2010) – With the 2010 season championships coming  up on August 28  the battles are coming down to the wire with the J & J Steel/Ideal Ready Mix IMCA Late Models in the tightest race. Just four points separate the top three positions. Davenport’s Rob Toland inched his way closer to another track championship after winning the late model feature for the second time this  year. Wapello’s Brett Timmerman edged out Jim Redmann in an exciting Mike’s Auto Parts IMCA Stock Car main event for his first ever stock car win while Brandon Rothzen (modifieds), Raritan, Il., , Matt Gavin (hobby stocks), Kirkwood, Il., and Bill Whalen Jr., (4 cylinders) Riverside all got repeat wins for the season at 34 Raceway. Thirteen year old Logan Moody, Catlin, Illinois took the checkered in the Kidmodz feature.

Davis, Bailey take season first checkers at 34 Raceway

BURLINGTON, Iowa (August 8, 2010) – Tony Davis, Monmouth, Il (sprints)., and Lonnie Bailey, Quincy, Ill. (late models), both raced to their first feature wins of the 2010 season at 34 Raceway Saturday, August 7 as point race action continues at the 3/8 mile. Also getting wins Saturday were Brandon Rothzen, Raritan, Il, (modifieds), Jeff Mueller, New London (stock cars) and Jake Wenig, Burlington (hobby stocks), all previous winners this  year.
Coming up this Saturday, August 14, point race action continues on Two Rivers Bank & Fleck Sales FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT.  Race fans can see the best in southeast Iowa racing for just $5 and beer specials throughout the night.  Racing action will include the J & J Steel/Ideal Ready Mix IMCA Late Models, Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds, Mike’s Auto Parts IMCA Stock Cars, Pepsi Hobby Stocks and Series # 5 for the I-Wireless/Louisa Communications 4 Cylinder Dash for Cash Series. The Kidmodz (full size modifieds w/4 cylinder engines (UMP members) will take to the track for their first ever appearance.

Newberry, Cook , Gavin celebrate Christmas with first wins at 34 Raceway

BURLINGTON,Iowa (July 31, 2010) – 34 Raceway celebrated Christmas early last Saturday, July 31 with a rescheduled Christmas in July night at the track. There were Christmas lights, an appearance from Santa and gifts for the kids. Race fans were out in full force filling the stands to watch sprints, modifieds, hobby stocks, stock cars and dwarf mod lites taking on the 3/8 mile track on I Wireless/Danville Mutual Telephone night.
Coming up this week, Saturday, August 7, will be TA Auto & Tire Junior Fan Club Kids Night at the races and racing in all five classes, late models, modifieds, stock cars, 305 sprints and hobby stocks.
Receiving Christmas presents (feature wins) were Mike Weikert, Jr., Muscatine (modifieds), Jason Cook, Mt. Pleasant (stock cars), Matt Gavin, Kirkwood, Il., (hobby stocks), Justin Newberry, Danville (305 sprints) and Mike Morrill, Altoona (mod lites).
It’s been nearly three years since Justin Newberry has won a sprint car feature. But that changed last Saturday when Newberry picked up the W.T. Gabeline and Sons 305 Sprint feature win holding off Kevin Hetrick and John Draper.

Perry races to first 34 Raceway Late Model win

Strassheim wins 4-cylinder feature event, sixth in Late Model

BURLINGTON, Iowa (July 17, 2010) –  Point race action continued at 34 Raceway last Saturday, July 17 with five classes of cars taking to the track on a warm (to say the least) summer evening. Four of the five classes saw drivers getting their first wins of the season at the 3/8 mile including Jason Perry, Payson, Il., (late models), Dave Warth, Danville (stock cars), Ray Raker, Danville (hobby stocks) and Matt Strassheim,West Burlington (4 cylinders). Scott Hogan would also get a win in the modified division,  his second this  season.
The I-Wireless/Louisa Communications 4 Cylinders returned to 34 Raceway for Series Number 4 with West Burlington’s Matt Strassheim getting the win. After a sixth place finish in the late model feature, Strassheim climbed into the #64 4 cylinder of Randy Foor Racing. Strassheim took the lead and would pull away from the field early on. Nathan Chandler moved into the second spot on lap six following a red flag restart but wouldn’t be able to catch Strassheim who took the checkered flag in his first ride in a 4 cylinder.

Weikert, Wenig and Rossell are first time winners at 34

BURLINGTON, Iowa (July 10, 2010) – Holmes Concrete night at the races, July 10 was a wild one with a total of five red flags being brought out for cars flipping on the track. Thankfully all were able to walk away. Getting their first wins in this wild night were Mike Weikert, Jr., Muscatine (modifieds), Jake Wenig, Burlington (hobby stocks) and Greg Rossell, Knoxville, Ill (mod lites). Getting repeat wins were Jeff Mueller, New London (stock cars) and Kevin Hetrick, Gladstone, Il (305 sprints).
Coming up this week, Saturday, July 17 is    BUDWESIER & Lance   Employee Night. The #4   series I-Wireless/ Louisa    Communications 4 Cylinder – Dash-4-Cash Series will return to the 3/8 mile and there will be an on-track drivers’ autograph session at intermission. The J & J Steel/Ideal Ready Mix IMCA Late Models, Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds, Mike’s Auto Parts IMCA Stock Cars, Pepsi Hobby Stocks and 4 Cylinders will be in action. We will also welcome General Electric Employees & families to the track this week. Watch for our Christmas in July night coming July 24!

Webb wins second race in as many nights with Stock Car class

BURLINGTON, Iowa  (July 3, 2010) – American flags, bicycles, fireworks and some hot racing action made for a fun night at 34 Raceway Saturday, July 3 during the celebration of our nation’s independence holiday weekend. Five classes are racing action provided the excitement for the fans during the Mike’s Auto Parts IMCA Late Model Firecracker 50. $1000 went to the winner of the 50 lap feature that saw Davenport’s  Rob Toland collect the money.  Also in action were the Mike’s Auto Parts IMCA Stock Cars, the Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds and the Burlington Pepsi Hobby Stocks. Fans also got to see double features for the W.T. Gabeline and Sons Trucking 305 Sprints that included a makeup race from a May 15 rain out.

Double features on schedule for 305 Sprints

MIDDLETOWN, Iowa (June 30, 2010) – Celebrate the Fourth of July holiday at 34 Raceway when Mike’s Auto Parts and Shottenkirk Superstores present the IMCA Late Model  Firecracker 50 Saturday, July 3. $1000 to win the 50 lap feature in this 34 Raceway and IMCA National points race for IMCA late models. 
All five classes will be in action for this Fourth of July holiday special including double features for the WT Gabeline and Sons Trucking 305 Sprints. Also competing will be the Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds, Mike’s Auto Parts IMCA Stock Cars and the Pepsi Hobby Stocks. It will be a draw/redraw show for the late models and hobby stocks.

Jones leads last 10 to win USAC Sprints at 34

Clauson takes USAC Midget win, Huls second straight

BURLINGTON, Iowa (June 26, 2010) – Levi Jones, of Olney, Ill., won Saturday night’s 30-lap AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car race at 34 Raceway, leading the final 10 laps.
Dave Darland led the first 20 laps until tire problems relegated him to a 10th-place finish.
Chris Windom finished second ahead of Shane Hmiel, series point leader Damion Gardner and Terry Babb.
Three drivers flipped, but there were no driver injuries.
Jones took the lead on lap 21 and never looked back.
