Dale perseveres in sportsman special at 24 Raceway

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

MOBERLY, Mo. (April 25, 2009) – For the first 14 laps of the Sportsman Special, it was a trading of the lead between two Moberly drivers, Tim Eravi running up high on the 24 Raceway track, while Clinton Dale used the lower lanes.  After a caution on lap 15, Derrick Agee got his turn at the front for a couple of laps until the next yellow flag came out.  On that lap 18 restart, Eravi resumed his role at the front, fending off Joni Petersheim this time until lap 20, when Dale regained the lead for a moment until another spin brought out the caution, this time by Moberly’s Randy Rindom.  With Rindom stalled in turn 3 and facing the wrong way, Larry Perkins couldn’t stop in time and the resulting head-on crash brought out the race-stopping red flag on lap 21, as both drivers and cars were attended to.  When racing resumed, Dale jumped back to lead the remining 4 laps with Jeff Creed of Cairo close behind.  Chad Walter of Clarence came in 3rd after starting from the pole position, followed by Mike Harward of Floris, IA.  Rounding out the top five was Huntsville’s Agee, the winner from opening night, two weeks earlier.

By Jack Walbring
QUINCY, Ill. (April 26, 2009) – Pratt redeemed his bad luck in the Deery Brothers Summer Series event on Thursday night when he rolled his new ride in turn one by leading every lap of the Budweiser IMCA Late Model 30 lap main event. Pratt took the lead at the drop of the green flag with Matt Bailey in tow in the second spot. Bailey tried in vain to catch Pratt but was unable to do so even with a couple of caution flags being thrown. The red flag came out on lap the second lap as veteran Terry Gallaher flew off the top of turn one and rolled his late model. Gallaher was uninjured but the same could not be said of his car. Pratt got into lapped traffic and worked it with ease as he outdistanced himself from the field at the checkered flag. Matt Bailey settled for second followed by Jason Frankel in third, Justin Reed in fourth and Jerry Weisenberger in fifth. Weisenberger and Gallaher were the heat race winners with Joey Gower scoring his second win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash Series.
