Bailey, DeLonjay, Tomlinson, Klingele score feature wins at Quincy Raceways

dsc_0237QUINCY, Ill. (July 26, 2009) – Matt Bailey, Steven DeLonjay, Kevin Tomlinson and Tanner Klingele all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, July 26 during Heetco Night at the Races.
Joey Gower grabbed the lead on the second lap of the thirty lap Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature event and looked like he was going to cruise to his first feature win of the season but Matt Bailey had a different idea.

A night for firsts at 34 Raceway

dsc_0195BURLINGTON, Iowa (July 25, 2009) –  Three drivers raced to their first feature wins for the season Saturday, July 25, with two getting repeat wins. Gary Russell (late models), Biggsville, Il.,  Bill Roberts, Jr., (modifieds), Burlington and Kirk Kinsley (stock cars), Wapello, all took the checkered flag for the first time this year on Sebastian Sandblasting Christmas In July Night at 34 Raceway. There was racing in all five classes and the jolly old man in red was present giving kids rides in a horse drawn wagon on the track during intermission. Sebastian Sandblasting also donated several bikes and scooters given to lucky junior fan club winners and their was a gift for the first 250 fans entering the gate.

Griffith, Keltner pick up first wins at CJ Speedway

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 24, 2009) – Sky Griffith, Wapello and Daniel Keltner, also   of Wapello picked up their first wins at CJ Speedway as a storm was headed their way. With two features under their belts, word was received of a severe storm with high winds headed their way so for safety reasons the action was stopped after the mod lite feature so everyone could get to safety. The remaining features will be completed next Friday during the Louisa County Fair week race with the IMCA Stock Cars, Modifieds and 4 Cylinders having double features.

Barth, Riley, Stein post Davenport wins before rain

DAVENPORT, Iowa (July 24, 2009) – Despite a rather bleak weather forecast, the racing program started as scheduled Friday night at the Davenport Speedway. Unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans. The rain started five laps into the Street Stock feature. The remainder of the Street Stock main, along with the Pro Mod and IMCA Late Model features, will be made up at a time to be determined.

Rich Smith, Harrison get first feature wins of season

tony-fraiseDONNELLSON, Iowa (July 24, 2009) – For most people, when they heard Tony Fraise was moving to an IMCA Late Model for the 2009, it wasn’t a matter of time of if he could win, but when he would win.
Well the when came with a win Friday at Lee County Speedway, during Elder Implement Night and Summy Tire and Auto Night.
Rich Smith (Miller Lite Modifieds) and Gabe Harrison (Feinberg Metal Recycling Wild Things) also picked up their first feature wins of the season.  Derek St. Clair, Jacob Smith and Jeff Mueller also got feature wins.

Potter takes WOW win at 24 Raceway

MOBERLY, Mo. (July 18, 2009) – Taking control on lap five, Rusty Potter went on to his second career O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors win at 24 Raceway Saturday night.  Josh Fisher jumped into the lead at the start as he was followed by Potter, Mitchell Moore, Chris Walker, and Lanny Carpenter.  Fisher would lead the first four laps as Potter would get by on lap five.  For the next five laps, Potter would be followed by Fisher.  The driver on the move was Austin Alumbaugh as he had moved into the top five from his twelfth starting spot by lap ten.  On lap eleven, Fisher spun in between turns one and two bringing out the yellow.  Fisher would restart at the tail as sixth place Terry Hinck pulled into the pits ending his evening.  At this point, Potter would be followed by Moore, Walker, Boyer, and Alumbaugh.  Potter continued to lead as Alumbaugh was on a mission.  He got by Walker and Boyer on lap twelve and by lap fourteen he worked his way by Moore for second.  Walker and Boyer would get by Moore on lap fifteen for third and fourth  as Potter continued to  be chased by Alumbaugh.  By lap seventeen, Fisher had worked his way back into the top five as he got by both Moore and Boyer and moved into fourth. 

Murphy rolls to Davenport late model win

DAVENPORT, Ia. (July 17, 2009) – Unusually cool temperatures kept the racing fast at the Davenport Speedway on Friday.  The racing was so fast, the entire program was run in just under three hours.

The hot and cold season of Mike Murphy Jr. was smoking Friday. The defending Track Tamer Engines Late Model track champion collected his second feature win of the season in style.

Todd Malmstrom led the opening lap of the twenty-five lap main, then Keith Pratt took over. Pratt led three laps, before Murphy put his ride out front. Once in the lead, Murphy would go untouched in the green, white, checkered race.

Gharst charges to Quincy Raceways Sprint Invaders win

gharst-winners-photoQUINCY, Ill. (July 19, 2009) – Kaley Gharst, Matt Bailey, Robbie Reed and Travis Booher all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways during Budweiser Rinella Distributing Night at the Races.
Jim Moughan blasted into the lead of the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders main event with Mark Shirshekan challenging in the second spot at the drop of the green flag. Shirshekan slipped past Moughan on the third lap to take over the top spot but Moughan got back by Shirshekan to take the lead for the fifth circuit of the twenty five lapper. Moughan then proceeded to hold back the field but Kaley Gharst had his sights set on the front of the field. Gharst charged through the field from his fourth row starting spot to challenge for the lead on lap seventeen,
