Mincer leaves no doubt with win, championship at 34 Raceway

BURLINGTON, Iowa – September 26, 2009 ­ Bobby Mincer came into Saturday night’s Season Championship for the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders with a 13-point lead, and left no doubt who was in charge by the end of the night, sweeping all events. The Burlington, Iowa driver was crowned with his second championship in the series’ history, having also won in 2004.

After handily winning his heat, Mincer drew the pole for the special Bud Taeger Memorial Dash, then rolled a two to start the 25-lap main event outside of row one. Ryan Jamison entered the night second in points, and won his heat as well. He started fifth in the main after running fourth in the dash.

Brannon Bechen wins 6th Annual Spooktacular

DAVENPORT, Iowa (Sept. 26, 2009) – Brannon Bechen took home the top prize at the 6th Annual Spooktacular, held Saturday at the Davenport Speedway. Over 110 cars were on hand for the event, despite the soggy weather conditions.

Defending Spooktacular champion Jeremy Campbell led the first three laps of the 25-lap 4 Stock main. Andy Wagener took over the lead after a lap four caution and would hold the point for the next 13 la ps. Bechen came to the lead as Wagener was mired in lapped traffic on lap 18. Brannon Bechen would lead the rest of the way to the checkers and take his first Spooktacular win.

Spooktacular slated for Saturday at Davenport Speedway

DAVENPORT, Iowa (Sept. 23, 2009) – The final racing event of the 2009 season at the Davenport  Speedway is this Saturday, September 26th. The 6th Annual Spooktacular features four classes racing for a $1,000-to-win top prize.

Drivers in the 4 Stock, Pro-Mod, non-sanction IMCA Modified, and Street Stock classes will each have a chance to race for a quick grand. Each class will run a 25-lap feature, with up to 24 cars starting the main. There is a $30 entry fee for the top four classes, each of which pays $100 to start the feature.

Burgtorf leads most laps, settles for second

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (Sept. 19, 2009) –­ Jason Frankel, Quincy, Ill., ended his 2009 Deery Brothers Summer Series in the same place he started it: 34 Raceway’s victory lane. Frankel won Saturday’s Pepsi USA Nationals Deery Brothers Summer Series main event, passing Jeff Aikey, Waterloo and then Mark Burgtorf, Quincy, Il,  the last two times around the track to earn $10,000 in the top paying event on the IMCA Late Model tour. Frankel begun the series campaign by winning the opener at West Burlington back in April.

Sunday night Dewain Hulett, with a little help from Stevie Dirt, made a stop in Quincy, Ill., to record a special sunday edition of Short Track Saturday Night at Quincy Raceways. The following is the taped delayed event, which includes feature events for sprint invaders, IMCA Late Models, UMP Modifieds and IMCA Stock Cars.

Quincy Raceway closes out 2009 season

Gharst gets second sprint invaders win of season at Quincy

QUINCY, Ill. (Sept. 13, 2009) – Quincy Raceways closed out the 2009 race season with the Summy Tire & Auto Center IMCA Late Model and the Advance Trading UMP Modified Trophy Dash Finales as well as the second appearance of the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders during Yellow Book and Selby Implement Company Night at the Races.

Billy Genenbacher laid claim to the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Late Model Trophy Dash Finale and taking home the $500 check. Genenbacher outran Lonnie Bailey and Denny Woodworth in a battle royal to take the win in the twenty lap event.
