Smith, Hale purchases Pitside Parts
Offers special $80 deal on Raceceivers
DONNELLSON, Iowa – Levi Smith and Nicole Hale completed a deal late last month to purchase the parts business owned by Terry and Harry Hoenig – Pit Side Parts.
The business will remain in Donnellson, Iowa, but will be run as Pitside Parts, according to Smith.
Plans are to keep the business mobile, with the idea of being on hand at area racetracks throughout the summer. Smith will also have the parts business available during none racing days at his residence.
“For my goals, the parts bus was no longer pratical,” Smith said. “After long talks and looking we purchased a white 28′ enclosed trailer.
“This allows us to sell out of it during the week and at any track,” he added.
Parts can be picked up all winter long by contacting Smith at home by telephone, at 319-470-7898. Currently the business will be run out of his mobile parts trailer, but on hand parts and part orders will be available upon request.
They are at an easy to find location next to Benner’s BP at the four-way stop in Donnellson.
Also, Smith has worked hard to find affordable raceceivers for area racers, as both Lee County Speedway and 34 Raceway have announced that the radio receivers will be required at both tracks in 2012. If pre-ordered before the end of December, drivers can get the raceceivers for just $80, as a winter special. As of January 1, the price will go up to $85.
“When local tracks make rules that cost the racers money they always try to find the cheap route,” Smith said. “My goal is for me to be the cheap route or the good deal.
“Last year I paid $130 for a raceceiver set up, so to be able to offer it for $80 is unbelievable,” he added. “I hope people take advantage of this great deal.”
There will be the same solid lines of weekly parts available at the track, according to Smith who said he hopes to keep the cost down for drivers.
“Our goals are simple,” Smith said. “I want to continue to grow what the Hoenig’s built.
“I’d love to go to a Saturday night track,” he added. “Racing has become so expensive it gets hard for people to afford.
“We order almost every week and can get almost any part. I’m only a phone call away and going to do my best to make it easy for people to pick up their orders.”
Keep your eye out for more information from Pitside Parts, as they are in the planning stages of an open house to be held February 11, 2012, at the Lee County Fairgrounds, in its newest and heated building. The open house is expected to run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
